This is a Print. It is dated 1810 and we acquired it in 1977. Its medium is hand colored etching on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
Famous for its association with Shakespeare's plays, the Globe Theater was built in the suburb of Bankside, on the South Bank of the Thames in 1559, its appearance known from a seventeenth-century map of London. The theater burned in 1613, was rebuilt in 1614, and demolished in 1644.
It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Freund.
