Sarong (Thailand)
This is a Sarong. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is cotton and its technique is plain weave. application of mordants and resist by hand held implement for reds and blue; yellow probably applied directly by brush. technique very close if not same as for "chintz" dyed in india. It is a part of the Textiles department.
