Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Elmira Cressey. It is dated ca. 1826 and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is silk embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in cross, chain, satin, eye, stem and speckling stitches on plain weave foundation; counted and uncounted stitches. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Unknown. It is credited Gift of Anonymous Donor from the Fraser/Martin Collection.
