Map Sampler (USA)

This is a Map sampler. It was designed by Louisa C. Sturtevant and distributed by Aquidneck Cottage Industries. It is dated 1939 and we acquired it in 1975. Its medium is silk embroidery on silk foundation and its technique is embroidered in stem, chain, couching, satin, running, knotted and back stitches on 8 harness satin foundation; counted stitches. It is a part of the Textiles department.
