Pleated Fan (France), 1775–85

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1775–85 and we acquired it in 1970. Its medium is painted and gilded silk leaf with tambour work and metallic spangles, carved and pierced ivory sticks, mother-of-pearl backing on guards, glass stone at the rivet. It is a part of the Textiles Department department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Robertson D. Ward. It is credited Gift of Mrs. Robertson D. Ward, from the collection of her mother, Mrs. Helen Wright-Clark Dawson.
