Whistle

This is a whistle. It is dated 1964 and we acquired it in 1964. Its medium is incised earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Figural clay whistles have been made in Mexico since the time of the ancient Maya civilization, when whistles and rattles were buried as grave goods with the dead.
