Bequest of Richard Cranch Greenleaf, 1962-54-34

The awkward collar may indicate the garment was made by a tailor unfamiliar with the straight collar then fashionable in France.

Mr. Greenleaf purchased the waistcoat in Boston, Massachusetts in 1925 and believe it belonged to an eighteenth-century American.

This object was bequest of Richard Cranch Greenleaf (American, 1887–1961). It is credited Bequest of Richard Cranch Greenleaf in memory of his mother, Adeline Emma Greenleaf.
