This is a plates. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated ca. 1846 and we acquired it in 1961. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
It is credited Museum purchase through gift of Emily Howland Chauncey.

Underside of plate a: [1] crowned interlaced "LP" flanked by "SÈVRES" and "1846" (?) within round mark, printed in blue (decoration mark) [2] crowned "CHATEAU / DE / BIZY" within round mark with jagged edge, printed in red [3] incised marks (?) Underside of plate b: [1] crowned interlaced "LP" flanked by "SÈVRES" and "1846" (?) within round mark, printed in blue (decoration mark) [2] crowned "CHATEAU / DE / BIZY" within round mark with jagged edge, printed in red [3] crowned trompe l'oeil "LP" flanked by "SV." and "46", printed in green
It is inscribed
On front of plates: [1] central crowned "N" entwined with interlaced LLs in foliate scrollwork, printed in gold (the "N" for Napoleon)
