Salt Cellar Saltcellar

This is a saltcellar. It is dated 1811 and we acquired it in 1959. Its medium is gold, silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Gerard P. Herrick.

H x W x D: 8 × 5 × 9.7 cm (3 1/8 × 1 15/16 × 3 13/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On underside of salt cellar: [1] “IG,” impressed (maker’s mark) [2] “W” under an acorn, impressed (town mark, Augsburg)
