Footed Salver Salver

This is a Salver. It was made by Anthony Nelme. It is dated 1695–1696 and we acquired it in 1958. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Its dimensions are

H x diam.: 5.6 × 20.5 cm (2 3/16 × 8 1/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On underside of tray: [1] "N" or possibly "ANe" conjoined (maker's mark for Anthony Nelme) [2] "S", stamped (London date letter for 1695-1696) [3] crowned leopard, stamped (London town mark) [4] lion passant, stamped (British standard mark) Within interior ring of foot: [1] lion passant, stamped (British standard mark)

It is inscribed

On reverse: “M.P.”, engraved
