Dish Dish

This is a dish. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated 1768 and we acquired it in 1938. Its medium is soft paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was bequest of Erskine Hewitt. It is credited Bequest of Erskine Hewitt.

Its dimensions are

H x W x D: 3.5 × 13.5 × 17.9 cm (1 3/8 × 5 5/16 × 7 1/16 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] interlaced LLs enclosing "P", painted in blue overglaze (manufactory and date mark) [2] "v a ..." (?), painted in blue overglaze (painter's mark?) [3] illegible script, possibly painted in gold (very faded)

It is inscribed

Front of plate: [1] cursive "E", painted in gold
