Plate, from a Dessert Service Plate

This is a plate. It was manufactured by Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated 1823–1824 and we acquired it in 1938. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was bequest of Erskine Hewitt. It is credited Bequest of Erskine Hewitt.

Its dimensions are

H x diam.: 3.2 × 23.5 cm (1 1/4 × 9 1/4 in.)

It has the following markings

Underside: [1] "Sèvres / 24" and a fleur-de-lys within LLs, printed in blue overglaze (decoration mark) [2] "23 - 10", incised (probably turner's date mark) [3] cursive "f T", incised (probably turner's initials) [4] "m 12 f", painted in gold (gilder's mark)

It is inscribed

Center of well: [1 "Les Repas de Chevalerie.", printed in gold
