Greeting Card, Valentine

This is a Greeting card. It is dated ca. 1850 and we acquired it in 1931. Its medium is embossed cut paper, with silk, velvet, and satin additions. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This object was donated by Sarah Cooper Hewitt and Eleanor Garnier Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt.

Its dimensions are

20.2 × 13.2 cm (7 15/16 × 5 3/16 in.)

It is inscribed

Green plaque at bottom printed in gilt reads: "Thee for companion I would gladly greet, Thou makes time happy wheresoëer I rove; thou art a balsom thats bahrich (?) and sweet. 'Tis though alone that I shall always love."
