Toasting Fork with Pivoting Head Fork

This is a fork. It was made by Robert Stocker. It is dated 1886 and we acquired it in 1931. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Eleanor Garnier Hewitt and Sarah Cooper Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt.

Its dimensions are

L x W x D: 11.9 × 4.9 × 1.1 cm (4 11/16 × 1 15/16 × 7/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On tubular sleeve: lion passant, Queen Victoria's head, date letter: L, and maker's mark: a butterfly-like symbol with an R and an S stamped in what would be the wings. On fork: lion passant, leopard's head for London, date letter: L, also same maker's mark.
