Wastebasket, 1928
This is a Wastebasket. It was designed by Donald Deskey. It is dated 1928 and we acquired it in 2018. Its medium is painted wood with silver leaf.
Donald Deskey’s decorative furnishings included this waste basket of about 1928, which evokes both skyscrapers and electrical lights, and uses the same strong geometries and color contrasts seen on some of his screens. These objects could be mixed with Deskey’s own chrome and mixed-media furniture or Paul Frankl’s Skyscraper forms.
