This self-promotional book was inspired by a list of maxims in Sagmeister’s diary. The 15 aphorisms, including “Trying to look good limits my life” and “Worrying solves nothing,” are illustrated by pamphlets contained within a laser-cut box. When the brochures are shuffled, they change the appearance of Sagmeister’s trellis-cut face.

This chess set was introduced after the 1917 Russian Revolution. The “Reds,” or “Communists,” include a strapping blacksmith king, a farm-maiden queen, and harvester pawns. The “Whites,” or “Capitalists,” have a king in a death mask, a queen whose cornucopia overflows with gold coins, and worker pawns bound in chains.
